Our Story
It Started With a Group of Animal Lovers
What started over a decade ago with a group of passionate animal owners has since grown into a full-service charitable organization dedicated to rescuing, rehabilitating, and rehoming animals in need across the Metro Chicago area.
We began small — neighbors helping neighbors, pulling animals from overcrowded shelters, and finding them loving homes. Over the years, that grassroots effort evolved into ZU1 Foundation NP: a structured, mission-driven nonprofit with programs spanning field rescue, medical care, foster placement, community education, and memorial scholarships.
We are registered in the State of Illinois with a pending IRS 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status application. Every dollar donated goes directly to the animals we serve.

ZU1 Foundation NP exists to rescue animals from neglect, abandonment, and overcrowded shelters — and to connect them with families who will love them for life. We believe every animal deserves safety, dignity, and a home.
